Statistical Advance: Analyzing The American Fence Association 150 At Gresham

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The eighth race of the 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season will take place on Saturday, Aug. 28 with the American Fence Association 150 presented by Mayfield Ice Creamier in the series’ inaugural appearance at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga.

At Gresham Motorsports Park:
•  Opened in 1967 as Jefco Speedway ... Has also been known as Georgia International Speedway and Peach State Speedway.
•  Played host to the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 1967, 1986 and 1987 (twice).
•  The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series held races there in 1968 and 1969.
•  Re-opened in November 2009 as Gresham Motorsports Park
•  This will be the inaugural race for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at the facility, and the first race for the series in the state of Georgia.

Up to Speed:
•  Darrell Wallace Jr. won the season-opener at Greenville Pickens Speedway on March 27.
•  Max Gresham was victorious on April 3 at South Boston Speedway and in the East/West combination race at Iowa Speedway on May 23.
•  Brett Moffitt was the winner of the inaugural stand-alone NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Martinsville Speedway on June 6.
•  Defending champion Ryan Truex captured his first win of 2010 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 25.
•  Andrew Ranger earned his first NKNPS East pole and race wins in the K&N 100 at Lime Rock Park on July 3.
•  Last time out on July 30 Wallace reached Victory Lane in the first race for the NKNPS East at Lee USA Speedway since 2004 ... Kevin Swindell earned his first career pole prior to the race.
•  Truex leads Wallace in the season standings by 33 points.
•  The next race for the NKNPS East will be the second of two trips to NHMS in 2010 ... The New Hampshire 125 is set for Friday, Sept. 17.

Selected Driver Highlights:
Sean Caisse (No. 35 Waste Management Recycling Chevrolet)

•  Fill-in for regular driver Andrew Ranger, who will compete in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series races this weekend in Montreal.
•  Has seven wins, 12 poles and 24 top 10s in 39 career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts.
•  Was the NKNPS East championship runner-up in 2006 and 2007.
•  Has one NKNPS East start this year, a seventh-place finish at South Boston Speedway.
•  Has four NNS starts this year.

Ty Dillon (No. 3 Mom ‘N’ Pop’s Country Ham Chevrolet)
•  Has five top 10s in eight career NKNPS East starts ... Best career finish of second came at Iowa Speedway in the East/West combination race where he also led the first laps of his career.
•  Has three top 10s in five starts this year.
•  Is a development driver for Richard Childress Racing ... Is the grandson of Richard Childress, son of RCR Vice President of Competition Mike Dillon and younger brother of 2008 NKNPS East Sunoco Rookie of the Year Austin Dillon.

Ryan Gifford (No. 2 Revolution Racing Chevrolet)
•  Has six top fives in 11 career NKNPS East starts ... Best career finish is second, twice.
•  Won his first career Coors Light Pole Award at Martinsville Speedway to become the first African-American driver in NKNPS East history to earn a pole.
•  Has slipped to eighth in points after finishes of 22nd and 19th the last two times out.
•  Is competing out of the Revolution Racing garage as part of the Drive for Diversity program.

Max Gresham (No. 18 Gresham & Associates Toyota)
•  Has two wins, a pole and five top 10s in 10 career NKNPS East starts.
•  Won the second and third races this year at SBS and Iowa Speedway.
•  Is fourth in points ... Has three podium efforts, but the other four finishes are 16th or worse.
•  Is a teammate to Brett Moffitt at Joe Gibbs Racing.
•  Is the grandson of Gresham Motorsports Park owner, Jim Gresham.

Ben Kennedy (No. 96 iRacing.com Chevrolet)
•  Will make his NKNPS East debut at GMP.
•  Has experience in the Pro-Truck class at Orlando Speed World and New Smyrna Speedway, and more recently has competed in Super Late Models while driving for Mark Martin Performance.
•  Is the great-grandson of Bill France Sr. and son of Lesa France Kennedy.

Matt Kobyluck (No. 40 Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino Chevrolet)
•  The 2008 NKNPS East champion.
•  Has seven poles, 16 wins and 94 top 10s in 175 career NKNPS East starts.
•  Has wins at 11-different tracks.
•  Is seventh in points after seven races with three top 10s and a best finish of fourth at Martinsville.

Tyler Laing (No. 61 Fadden Racing Chevrolet)
•  Will make his NKNPS East debut at GMP.
•  Earned the 2009 FasTruck Touring Series title, and more recently has competed in Super Late Models.

Eddie MacDonald (No. 71 Grimm Construction Chevrolet)
•  Has six wins, two poles and 54 top 10s in 128 career NKNPS East starts.
•  Is sixth in points after seven races with best finish of fourth last time out at Lee USA Speedway.
•  Was the 2009 championship runner-up.

Brett Moffitt (No. 20 Game Plan for Life Toyota)
•  Has three wins, one pole and 14 top 10s in 18 career NKNPS East starts.
•  Is third in points with five top 10s in seven races ... Has finished in the top five the last four races.
•  Competes as a teammate to Max Gresham in the JGR development program.

Miguel Paludo (No. 77 Stemco Duroline Toyota)
•  Has started six of the seven races and is 19th in the season standings.
•  Best finish in those six career starts came at Lime Rock Park when he finished ninth.

•  Is the son of 1994 NKNPS East Champion Dale Shaw.

Kevin Swindell (No. 9 Curb Records/Red Line Oil Chevrolet)
•  Has five top 10s in 12 career starts ... Debuted in the series with a pair of starts in 2008.
•  Is 10th in points with three top 10s ... Best finish is second at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
•  Earned first career pole last time out at Lee, and led first laps since fall 2009 at NHMS.
•  Has made three NNS starts in 2010 for Baker-Curb Racing.
•  Is the son of Sprint Car racing legend Sammy Swindell.

Ryan Truex (No. 00 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota)
•  The 2009 NKNPS East titlist ... Has four wins, two poles and 14 top 10s in 19 career starts.
•  Leads Darrell Wallace Jr. by 33 points atop the standings ... Has six top fives in seven races, highlighted by a win at NHMS.
•  A development driver for Michael Waltrip Racing ... Made NNS debut at Gateway International Raceway on July 17 and finished 28th after an accident ... Finished 12th in his second start at Michigan International Speedway.
•  Father, Martin Sr., and brother, Martin Jr., also competed in the NKNPS East.

Darrell Wallace Jr. (No. 6 Revolution Racing Chevrolet)
•  Trails Ryan Truex by 33 points in the standings ... Has two wins and six top 10s in seven races.
•  With his win at Greenville Pickens Speedway, he became the youngest race winner in series history, and also became the first African-American driver to win in the series’ 24 years ... Also won last time out at Lee.
•  Is the leading candidate for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors.
•  Competes out of the Revolution Racing garage as part of the Drive for Diversity program.

Cole Whitt (No. 84 Red Bull Toyota)
•  Has five top 10s in his first seven starts in the series and is fifth in points as a rookie ... Best finish was second at SBS and LRP.
•  Earned the pole and finished third in his debut at GPS ... Also won the East pole at Iowa.
•  A highly-decorated open wheel racer, he is a development driver for Red Bull Racing.
