Weekend Features Three Touring Races In Three Countries
By Jason Christley, NASCAR
June 6, 2016 - 3:39pm

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• The tight championship race in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West heads to the Rocky Mountains Saturday for the NAPA/Toyota 150 at Colorado National Speedway. The historic track outside of Denver will be hosting its 14th series race and has been a series staple since 2007. Ryan Partridge is the defending race champion and enters the weekend four points behind rookie Todd Gilliland. Defending series champion Chris Eggleston won at his home track in 2014, which helped land him the full-time ride with Bill McAnally Racing last year. Eggleston is just nine points behind Gilliland. NASCAR Next driver Noah Gragson sits fourth in points, looking to get into the championship hunt, and leads a pack of five drivers -- including three more rookies -- within 13 points of each other.

• The NASCAR Pinty's Series heads to Quebec Saturday for the CRS Express 300 at Autodrome Chaudiere. Jason Hathaway will attempt to win his third consecutive race at the quarter-mile track, which would tie Andrew Ranger for the series mark for most consecutive wins at one track. Ranger enters as the points leader after his win at the season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Alex Labbe won the pole at Chaudiere last season and led 109 laps in the race before Hathaway took the lead late en route to the win. Scott Steckly led the most laps in last year’s race before mechanical problems ended night. While Steckly won’t be driving Saturday, he’ll field a car for Quebec native Donald Theetge. Theetge finished third in the Grand Am Continental Tire Challenge at Daytona International Speedway in 2010.

• Round 3 of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series embarks to England for the American SpeedFest IV at Brands Hatch Circuit. The famed road course outside of London is 1.198 miles and has been the site of many notable races through the years. This includes the 1976 Formula 1 clash between Niki Lauda and the late James Hunt. Their sons, Mathias Lauda and Freddie Hunt, are now teammates in the European NASCAR series. Anthony Kumpen has built an eight-point lead on Frédéric Gabillon and 11-point edge on Borja Garcia. NASCAR Next driver Alon Day is looking to get back on track after a rough outing in Round 2 on the oval of Venray Raceway. Points leader Steines Longin will look to remain perfect in Elite 2, after sweeping both races at Valencia and Venray.
