STAFFORD, Conn. – Fast at Stafford Motor Speedway is becoming old hat for Ryan Preece.
Preece’s No. 3 Mizzy Construction/FJ Hubany Chevrolet paced Friday afternoon’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session in advance of Friday night’s TSI Harley-Davidson 150. His top lap of 18.119 seconds (99.343 mph) was slightly quicker than Todd Szegedy (No. 2 Wisk-Snuggle Ford) at 18.132/99.272 and Chuck Hossfeld (No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge) at 18.174/99.053.> More
For the second time in as many events, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will visit Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway and take the green flag for the TSI Harley-Davidson 150 on Friday, May 23.
Following a month layoff since the last race, also at Stafford on April 27, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will get back on the half-mile track for the one-day show.
Action will begin with an afternoon practice session and evening qualifying that will precede the first night race of the 2008 season.> More
As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, seven-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titlist Mike Stefanik will be honored at the TSI Harley-Davidson 150 on Friday, May 23 at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway.
A resident of Coventry, R.I., Stefanik is the winningest driver in the history of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and he was also named to the “NASCAR All-Time Modified Top 10 Drivers” list in 2003.> More
In a combined session today a total of 23 teams from the NASCAR Camping World Series East and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour tested at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The NASCAR Camping World Series East had a strong contingent of teams taking advantage of the test opportunity with a total of 18 cars. The garage featured a mix of New Hampshire veterans like Steve Park and Matt Kobyluck, as well as a host of rookies such as Austin Dillon, winner of the season-opener at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on April 19.> More
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour regular Ryan Preece has landed a one-race deal with car owner Maxie Bush to drive the No. 28 Ford in the US Cellular 200, a combined race between the NASCAR Camping World Series East and NASCAR Camping World Series West.
“It’s definitely going to be a fun experience,” Preece said. “It’s going to be my first time in a full-bodied car. I’m getting out of the open-wheeled stuff to try this, and I’m real excited.”> More

STAFFORD, Conn. – A year ago, Ryan Preece was packing up the trailer and heading home after Tech-Net Spring Sizzler qualifying. The 17-year-old was in much better spirits Saturday afternoon after earning the Coors Light Pole Award for Sunday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Preece’s time of 18.057 seconds (99.684 mph) around the half-mile in the No. 3 Mizzy Construction/FJ Hubnay Chevrolet was fast enough to edge Eric Beers (No. 46 Reynold’s Wrecking/J&R Pre-Cast Chevrolet) and earn his first career pole. Beers was second in 18.084 (99.536).> More

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make the first of four visits in 2008 to Stafford Motor Speedway this weekend as it is the featured event in the 37th Annual Tech-Net Spring Sizzler presented by Carquest in Stafford Springs, Conn.
Following a three-week layoff since the season-opener on April 6 at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will get back on the track with practice and qualifying at Stafford on Saturday, April 26. The Spring Sizzler is set to take the green flag on Sunday, April 27th at approximately 2:30 p.m.
As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, NASCAR will honor legends Ernie Gahan and Red Byron at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Conn., on April 27 prior to the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler.
NASCAR plans to honor each of its 31 all-time Modified champions throughout the season. The celebration began with the recognition of Frankie Schneider, Donny Lia and Richie Evans at the Icebreaker at Thompson International Speedway on April 6.> More
