Qualifying: Rain Hits Thompson

Christopher Will Start On Pole Sunday

THOMPSON, Conn. – Unfavorable weather conditions at Thompson International Speedway Saturday afternoon washed out time trials for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Current points leader Ted Christopher will now start on the pole for Sunday’s Sunoco Modified Mania 150.

Practice: TC Leads The Way

THOMPSON, Conn. - Points leader Ted Christopher topped the speed charts in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice Saturday at Thompson International Speedway.

Christopher's time of 18.893 seconds around the .625-mile oval produced an average speed of 119.092. He was the only driver of the 32 to practice to break the 119 mark.

Hirschman Adds Camping World Debut To New Hampshire Schedule

Already entered in New Hampshire 100, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Matt Hirschman will now double his weekend schedule when he makes his NASCAR Camping World Series debut in the Heluva Good! Fall 125.

An accomplished Modified driver from Northampton, Pa., Hirschman will make his full-fendered debut in the No. 9 Gillette-Evernham Motorsports Dodge in the Heluva Good! Fall 125 on Friday, Sept. 12. He will then turn around the next day to pilot his usual No. 59 Ed Bennett Properties Chevrolet Modified in the New Hampshire 100.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Broadcast Dates Announced

NASCAR and SPEED TV have announced the broadcast dates for upcoming NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.

The New Hampshire 100, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, will be the second appearance for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at the Loudon, N.H., track in 2008. The race will be aired on a tape-delayed basis by SPEED on Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m.

News & Notes: Silk Looks To Continue String Of Success at Thompson

It may be a two-hour drive from his hometown of Norwalk, Conn., but for Ronnie Silk, Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway is home sweet home.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make its fourth appearance of 2008 at Thompson on Sunday, Sept. 7 for the Sunoco Modified Mania 150. Silk, who made his 50th NASCAR Whelen Modified start last week, has excelled at Thompson throughout his young career, especially as of late.

Modified Champion Rick Fuller To Be Honored At Thompson

As part of a season-long celebration of 60 Years of Modified Champions, 1993 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titlist Rick Fuller will be honored at the Sunoco Modified Mania 150 on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway.

A consistent championship contender throughout his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career with top 10 points finishes in 17 seasons; Fuller broke through in 1993 and earned a 93-point victory over Reggie Ruggiero for the title.

Christopher Goes Wire-To-Wire

MANSFIELD, Ohio – Ted Christopher took sole possession of fifth place on the all-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins list when his No. 36 Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet took the checkered flag Saturday night in the Whelen 150 at Mansfield Motorsports Park.

Qualifying: Beers Wins Pole Again

MANSFIELD, Ohio - Eric Beers won his second straight Coors Light Pole Award, posting the fastest lap at the .5-mile Mansfield Motorsports Park oval.

It is the eighth career pole for Beers (No. 46 Reynold's Auto Wrecking/Sunoco Chevrolet), who put up a lap of 15.319 seconds/117.501 mph. Beers was also fastest in practice. He edged Bobby Grigas III (No. 09 Triple-G Scafford Services Chevrolet) by two thousands of a second. Grigas had a top lap of 15.321/118.486.

Practice: Beers Fast At Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Ohio - Eric Beers posted the fasted practice time during the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour's 1 1/2-hour session at Mansfield Motorsports Park.

Beers (No. 46 Reynolds Auto Wrecking/Sunoco Chevrolet) lapped the .5-mile oval in 15.050 seconds for an average speed of 119.308 mph.

Ted Christopher (No. 36 Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet) was second at 15.087/119.308. Ronnie Silk (No. 79 Hill Enterprises/Coors Light/Sunoco Pontiac) was third at 15.094/119.253. Ryan Preece and Jimmy Blewett rounded out the top five.

NASCAR Drivers To Appear At Columbus Clippers Game Friday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Four NASCAR developmental drivers will appear at the Columbus Clippers baseball game at Cooper Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, Aug. 22 in advance of Saturday’s doubleheader of racing action at Mansfield (Ohio) Motorsports Park.
