STAFFORD, Conn. - Eric Beers captured his seventh career Coors Light Pole Award in qualifying for Friday night's New England Dodge Dealers 150. Beers wasn't so fortunate in the post-qualifying draw of the top eight qualifiers, drawing the eight starting spot.
Beers (No. 46 Reynold's Auto Wrecking Chevrolet) circled the .500-mile oval in 18.298 seconds/98.3871 mph. It is Beers first pole award since Sept. 29, 2007 at Stafford.> More
STAFFORD, Conn. - Point leader Chuck Hossfeld has figured out the fast way around Stafford Motor Speedway. Hossfeld, who won the TSI Harley-Davidson 150 at the .500-mile oval May 23, posted the fastest practice time of 18.218 in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour's return visit.
Hossfeld was more than six-tenths quicker than Eric Beers (18.291). Todd Szegedy was third at 18.308. Billy Pauch Jr. and Ryan Preece rounded out the top five practice times. Thirty-seven cars practiced for the race, which has a starting field of 31.> More

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR has penalized James Civali, a driver who competes in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, as a result of a rules infraction Saturday at Riverhead Raceway in Riverhead, N.Y.
Civali was found to be in violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing; hitting another competitor’s car during a caution period) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book. The violation occurred during the Aug. 2 race.> More
Don King, owner of the No. 28 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour team, has announced that he has replaced driver James Civali with a tandem of Doug Coby and Woody Pitkat for the remainder of the season.
Coby, of Milford, Conn., will fill the seat this Friday as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour stops at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway for the New England Dodge Dealers 150. Coby has previously driven for King, and has one win and 23 top 10s in 76 career starts in the series.> More
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Jimmy Blewett registered his third career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory Saturday night when he took the checkered flag in the Miller Lite 140 at Riverhead Raceway.
Blewett, ofHowell, N.J., was strong throughout the evening as he led three times for 80 laps, including the final 46. After qualifying fourth-fastest, Blewett took the win in the second of two 25-lap heat races that preceded the 140-lap main. He was then able to parlay his qualifying success into front-running in the feature.
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. - The defending champion in the track's weekly Modified division, Bill Park collected his first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Coors Light Pole Award at Riverhead Raceway Saturday, and then went out and won the first of two heat races.
Park (No. 20 Smithtown Nissan Chevrolet) posted the fastest qualifying time of 11.926 seconds/75.465 mph, to edge tour regular Glenn Tyler by two one-thousands of a second. Tyler (No. 8 Financial Federal Credit/Sypher Construction Chevrolet) circled the .25-mile track in 11.928 seconds/75.453 mph.> More
A staple on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule throughout the series' history, Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway will once again be the venue for some hotly-contested Modified racing on Aug. 2.
The Miller Lite 140 will be the seventh race of the 2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, and the 47th all-time for the series at the Long Island track. Riverhead, at just .25-miles, is the shortest track on the schedule.> More
