Though he led the standings from the opening race at Nogaro (France) through to the final contest at the legendary Le Mans venue, Ander Vilarino’s journey to the title was not as smooth as it may at first appear. Strong competition would hold off his coronation, and it was not until the final laps of the season that the 32-year-old San Sebastian, Spain native became the inaugural Euro-Racecar NASCAR Touring Series champion.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – NASCAR history was recognized and its future celebrated Saturday evening as seven champions in NASCAR’s touring series were honored at the Night of Champions Touring Awards at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
The ceremony featured the champions and top drivers from the regional touring series in North America and Europe, who gathered for the special year-end event. It’s the first season a driver from Europe has been honored at the event.> More
