Ben Kennedy figured the best way to celebrate one of America's signature holidays was by taking one of America's signature passions – NASCAR racing – overseas.

And celebrate he did.

The 20-year-old Kennedy flew to France last week to participate in the Tours 100, the first NASCAR-sanctioned oval race ever held in the NASCAR Euro-Racecar Series.  Not only did Kennedy show up to compete, but he won his first career race sanctioned by the organization his great grandfather created.

Hélary Marks Return With Win

TOURS, France -- As Eric Hélary eyes a transition to NASCAR racing in the United States, he returned to the Euro-Racecar Series Sunday to claim the Evenement 100 and close out the series' historic race weekend.

Hélary took the lead with 20 laps remaining on the .4-mile temporary oval en route to the victory.

Points leader Ander Vilarino (#2 TFT-Banco Santander) finished second and (#100 Still Racing-Convergence) third.

Ben Kennedy, who won Saturday's Michelin 100, was involved in a mid-race accident and finished 14th.

Kennedy Makes History At Tours

TOURS, France -– Ben Kennedy turned a historic first for the Euro-Racecar Series into a historic first for his young racing career.

The 20-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla., driver -- the great-grandson of NASCAR-founder Bill France Sr. -- drove to his first NASCAR victory Saturday afternoon in the Michelin 100 at Tour Speedway in France. It was the first NASCAR-sanctioned oval race in Europe, a monumental step for the European-based touring series in its first year under the NASCAR banner.

Tours Speedway Set For Historic Race

TOURS, France – The Euro-Racecar Series will stage Europe’s first NASCAR-style oval event at the Tours Speedway on July 7-8.
Preparation for the race began some time ago with technical training taking place in the United States and collective testing being conducted on an oval with the support of NASCAR. It is a watershed event for motorsports in Europe.

Iannetta Rallies For Endurance Win

FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium - Romain Iannetta out-fought championship leader Ander Vilarino to capture the Endurance race of the Euro-Racecar Series' Elite Division Sunday at Spa-Francorchamps.


After starting fourth, Iannetta (#25 Orhes Competition) took the lead of the race at the exit of the Raidillon de l’Eau Rouge.
