Past Modified Champion Tomaino To Be Honored At Spencer Speedway

As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, 1990 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titlist Jamie Tomaino will be honored at the Mason Farms 100 on July 12 at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y.

Tomaino, who has run more races than any driver in the history of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, was a model of consistency during his championship season of 1990. Of the 23 races on the schedule, Tomaino finished in the top 10 a remarkable 18 times. He had 10 top-fives, and won at Monadnock Speedway.

HOSSFELD EDGES CHRISTOPHER IN PHOTO FINISH 

LOUDON, N.H. – Chuck Hossfeld led just one lap in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but it was the one that counted the most as he took the checkered flag in a photo finish in the New England 100.

Rain Washes Away Qualifying

LINEUPS SET BY RULE BOOK FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE RACES 

LOUDON, N.H. – Rain washed out nearly all on-track activity Thursday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

While the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour got a brief practice run, the showers that soaked the track canceled the scheduled qualifying for Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Series East race and Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race. Both lineups were set in accordance to the NASCAR rule book.

News & Notes: Whelen Modified Tour Makes First 2008 Stop at "Magic Mile"

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make the first of it’s two annual stops at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend for the New England 100.

Each trip to the "Magic Mile" is a highlight on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule as the races regularly attract the largest crows and the biggest entry list. This Saturday’s race will be no different. As of Monday there were 44 posted entries

Two-Time Modified Champion Spencer to be Honored at New Hampshire

As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, two-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titlist Jimmy Spencer will be honored at the New England 100 on June 28 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Spencer, who currently works for SPEED TV as a co-host for “NASCAR Raceday” and “NASCAR Victory Lane,” became the first driver to earn back-to-back NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championships in 1986 and 1987. He is one of just three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour drivers to capture consecutive titles.

Second Time's A Charm For Silk

THOMPSON, Conn. – Ronnie Silk reached Victory Lane for the second time in his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career when he took the checkered flag in the New England Dodge Dealers 75 Thursday night at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway.

In a race that counted only green flag laps, Silk took the lead from Ted Christopher on lap 53 and never relinquished it en route to his first win of the season. His previous victory also came at Thompson on Sept. 23, 2007.

Grigas Earns First Coors Light Pole

THOMPSON, Conn. - Second-year driver Bobby Grigas III earned his first career Coors Light Pole Award Thursday evening at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway. Grigas' No. 09 Triple-G Scaffold Services Chevrolet circled the .625-mile oval in 18.751 seconds/119.994 mph in qualifying for Thursday night's New England Dodge Dealers 75. Grigas will start the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event sixth after the post-qualifying redraw of the top eight spots.

News & Notes: Thompson Goes Green

The second of five trips for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour to Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway is slated for Thursday, June 19 with the New England Dodge Dealers 75 presented by Charter Cable, Internet & Telephone.

The format, which is unique but not new to the Modified Tour, will see only green flag laps scored. Regardless of how many caution laps are run, the checkered flag will drop with the completion of 75 green-flag laps.

Spotlight On Fuller At Thompson

NASCAR to Recognize 1992 Modified Champ on June 19

As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, 1992 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour titlist Jeff Fuller will be honored at the New England Dodge Dealers 75 presented by Charter Communications on Thursday, June 19 at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway.

Originally from Auburn, Mass., Fuller was one of the most successful drivers during the first 10 years of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, and he excelled at Thompson, where he registered a third of his career wins.
