MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Jake Crum will lead the field to the green flag in Saturday’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 after inheriting the pole following post-qualifying technical inspection.
The times for Jeff Oakley and Deac McCaskill, who qualified first and second respectively, were disallowed following inspection. Race director Lynn Carroll said Oakley was disqualified for having a spacer plate under the carburetor while McCaskill had an issue with the squirters on his carburetor.> More
MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Jeff Oakley upset Late Model Stock Car racing’s elite competition in qualifying for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway on Friday night.
Oakley, who races predominantly at Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia, qualified with a 20.392 second lap, scoring the pole. Oakley will lead the field to the green flag on Saturday night along with four-time Southern National Motorsports Park track champion Deac McCaskill, who locked himself into the race with his second-place qualifying effort.> More
MARTINSVILLE, VA – Philip Morris was fastest in practice for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 on Friday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway.
Morris, who has won four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national championships and is a three time victor in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, ran a 20.269 second lap in practice. Morris won 20 races during the 2017 Whelen All-American Series season.> More
Late Model Stock Car racing’s best racers are preparing to head to Martinsville Speedway for their biggest race of the season, the 33rd annual, $25,000-to-win Valley Star Credit Union 300 which will commence on Saturday night. This year, however, things are bigger and brighter than ever before.
Saturday night’s race will be the first race ever run under Martinsville Speedway’s new permanent LED lighting system, and the first night race has generated plenty of buzz. For the racers, a night race at Martinsville also presents new challenges.> More
