Whelen Euro Elite 2: Longin Wins Fourth In A Row

A frantic ELITE 2 Race 2 closed the Autospeedway American Style at Raceway Venray and it was Stienes Longin (#11 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) who came out the winner from a Green-White-Checkered finish in which he bested Italian rookie Riccardo Geltrude (#7 Double-T by Nocentini Ford Mustang), who closed a fantastic oval racing debut with the second podium of his career.

After surrendering the points lead by one lenght to Frederic Gabillon on Sunday, Anthony Kumpen (#24 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) retook it today by winning his second race of the season, the fourth of his NASCAR career, at Raceway Venray in the context of the second edition of the Autospeedway American Style.

After winning the first two races of the season in Valencia, Stienes Longin (#11 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) delivered once again at Raceway Venray by starting from the pole and leading all but one lap in ELITE 2 Race 1 of the Autospeedway American Style. The Belgian edged Thomas Ferrando (#37 Knauf Racing Team Ford Mustang) and rookie Riccardo Geltrude (#7 Double-T by Nocentini Ford Mustang) in the first Green-White-Checkered finish of the 2016 season.

Whelen Euro Elite 1: Gabillon Grabs First Season Win

Frederic Gabillon (#3 Tepac RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) came out the winner from an outstanding four-way battle at Raceway Venray at the end of the 60-lap Elite 1 Race 1 to score his first win of the season and the sixth of his NASCAR career. The Frenchman edged points leader Anthony Kumpen (#24 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) under the checkered flag to give RDV Competition the team’s first ever NASCAR win.

Marko Stipp Makes NWES Debut

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will welcome a new German driver on May 15-16 at Raceway Venray, the high-banked half-mile oval located on the border between the Netherlands and Germany, in the context of the Autospeedway American Style. Herford-native Marko Stipp will join the European NASCAR Series in the ELITE 2 Division at the wheel of the #14 Team Raceway Venray Chevrolet SS he will share with Barry Maessen.

This 23-degree high banked half-mile oval, located on the Dutch-German border, offers a great challenge to European drivers who quickly discovered how challenging and compelling is grasping for perfection in a 28-car fully crowded 800-meter track at an average speed of more than 150 Km/h.
