Coby Proves A Quick Study At Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Doug Coby had never taken a lap around Oswego Speedway before Saturday. He hadn't even seen it in person before he arrived at the historic upstate New York track in the morning.

It didn't take the three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion long, though, to find the fast way around in his No. 2 Dunleavy Repair/A&J Romano Construction Chevrolet. Coby led twice for a race-high 121 laps en route to capturing the Toyota Mod Classic 140.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — It’s been 27 years since the NASAR Whelen Modified Tour tackled Oswego Speedway, but the track in upstate New York will again play a role in the title race when it hosts the Toyota Mod Classic 150 presented by McDonald’s this Saturday night.

There may not be a long history of Whelen Modified Tour racing at Oswego when compared to other tracks, but the history which has been made there played significant roles in determining the Tour championship. This weekend should be no different as the season heads into a hectic stretch run.

Bonsignore Drives Home Win At Riverhead

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. -- Justin Bonsignore came up short at home in June. He wasn't going to let it happen again Saturday night.

The 28-year-old from Holtsville, New York, held off the charge of brother Timmy and Shawn Solomito to score the victory in the Riverhead 200 at Long Island's Riverhead Raceway. It was a night of milestones for Bonsignore, who earned his 10th career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour win in his 100th career start.
