Mexico SeriesDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – OCESA announced today the 2012 NASCAR Mexico Series schedule that marks the series’ ninth season overall and sixth under the NASCAR banner.
The slate includes 14 races at eight different tracks and gets underway on Sunday, March 25 on the road course at Monterrey and concludes on Sunday, Nov. 11 in Mexico City.

For those unable to attend the 2011 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards Banquet and/or NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Series Awards Gala held last December in the Grand Ballroom of the Charlotte (N.C.) It was a season that ended with a familiar face, but began with a pair of brothers getting fast starts. It was a season with tremendous competition, but a points race that ended rather abruptly. Also, it had a rookie with a strong pedigree and a streaky driver who dominated the summer months.

The festivities featured the champions and top drivers from all of NASCAR’s North American regional touring series, who gathered for the special year-end celebration.

Quiroga was recognized along with five other NASCAR touring series champions at the Grand Champions Awards ceremony Charlotte Convention Center on Saturday morning. Quiroga, who made two Camping World Truck Series starts this season, won his third consecutive Mexico Series title in 2011.

Gresham, the reigning NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion, started dead last in the 14-kart field and took the lead with just under two minutes remaining in the 15-minute contest at Charlotte’s Victory Lane Indoor Karting that pitted the seven NASCAR champions in town for the week against members of the local media.
