Gonzalez Snares First Career Win

MEXICO CITY -- While all the attention was on the six NASCAR Mexico Series drivers vying for the championship, Pepe Gonzalez emerged from the green-white-checkered finish to Sunday's Alcatel One Touch 240 with his first career win.

The 46-year-old from Guadalajara was making his 12th start of the season and his 18th of his career. He is the sixth different driver to win at Mexico City's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

MEXICO CITY -- Rubén García Jr. nearly saw his championship dreams come to a crashing halt.

In the end, however, the 19-year-old NASCAR Next driver wound up in Victory Lane and maintained his position atop the NASCAR Mexico Series. His victory in Saturday's Red Cola 240 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez was his third of the year and second of the five-race Desafio.

García's No. 88 Canels/Scotiabank/HDI Toyota led just four laps all day but was able to get past teammate Rafael Martinez with three laps to go to secure the victory.

Lopez Bounces Back For 23rd Victory

AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico – Rogelio López got the win Sunday, but for his 2015 NASCAR Mexico Series championship hopes, it came one race too late.

Lopez won his series-record 23rd race in the Desafio Deportivo 240 at Autódromo Internacional de Aguascalientes, the second race of the five-race Desafio.

Garcia Opens Desafio With Victory

CHIHUAHUA, Mexico -- Heavy rains forced NASCAR Mexico Series officials to postpone the Coca-Cola Zero 240 a day, but the wet weather couldn't slow down Rubén García Jr. Monday.

The 19-year-old NASCAR Next driver captured the first round of the 2015 Desafio at El Dorado Speedway with a dominating performance.

Wild Cards Looking For Championship Form

MEXICO CITY -- Over the next two months, the NASCAR Mexico Series will determine its 2015 champion.

The Desafío 2015 will begin Sunday at El Dorado Speedway in Chihuahua and culminate on Sunday, Nov. 22 at Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas.

The championship field has been narrowed down to 12 drivers: The top 10 in points after the 10 regular-season races and two wild cars.

Those wild card drivers earned their spots in the Desafío 2015 by virtue of winning races: teammates Rodrigo Peralta and Santiago Tovar.

Rovelo Grabs Third Mexico Series Victory

SAN LUIS POTOSI, MEXICO – Rubén Rovelo picked up his third NASCAR Mexico Series win of the season and locked up the top spot in the upcoming Desafio Sunday.

Rovelo’s No. 28 G3C/GESTI Dodge held off the field in a green-white-checkered finish to capture the HAAS CNC 240 at Autódromo Potosino.

Rovelo, who led a race-high 92 laps, took the lead on the final restart from Rogelio López. Lopez wound up third, behind Rovelo and Homero Richards. Richards had been fastest in practice, but rain washed out qualifying Sunday morning.

Vences Rolls To Third Win

PUEBLA, Mexico -- Irwin Vences collected his third win of the season and strengthened his hold on the top spot in the NASCAR Mexico Series standings Sunday at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed.

The victory in the Amozoc 240 was Vences' second straight; he picked up the win July 12 at San Luis Potosi. He also the May 31 race at Puebla.

Vences' No. 46 Axtel/Avaya/M Racing Ford out-distanced his teammate Homero Richards by 1.874 seconds on the 2.01 km (1.25 mile) oval. Richards had won the pole position earlier in the day.
