PRACTICE: Quiroga Fast At Aguascalientes

AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico – Germán Quiroga had the fastest car on the track for Saturday’s NASCAR Mexico Series practice at Nuevo Autódromo de Aguascalientes as the teams prepare for Sunday’s Aguascalientes 240.

Quiroga, the two-time and defending series champion out of Mexico City, got around the .870-mile concrete track in 23.776 seconds to lead the way during the 50-minute final practice session of the day.

Most Popular Driver Balloting Remains Open

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – While four of the six NASCAR regional touring series have crowned champions, fans still have a final say in who will win the Most Popular Driver Awards, as balloting remains open for all series through Nov. 20.

While balloting is still open for nearly three more weeks, Most Popular Driver voting has already received a record level of participation in 2011 with more than 109,000 votes cast since balloting opened in mid-July.

Contreras Claims Mexico Rookie Honors

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – With two races remaining in the NASCAR Mexico Series season, Enrique Contreras III has clinched the 2011 Rookie of the Year Award.

Contreras, 18, a third-generation driver out of Mexico City and pilot of the No. 77 Big Bola Casinos/Motul Lubricants Dodge, was the top-rookie on five occasions. With two races, remaining on the schedule, his best finish was an 11th-place on Oct. 23 at Óvalo Potosino de Villa de Zaragoza near San Luis Potosí. Mexico.
