Steckly Continues Roll With Dickies Pole

BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – Scott Steckly (No. 22 Tow Truck in a Box/Erb Group Dodge) continued his recent dominance of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio Saturday by establishing a new track record and winning the pole for Sunday’s Dickies 200 presented by Lucas Oil.

The Milverton, Ont., driver navigated the 2.459-mile road course at Mosport International Raceway in 85.375 seconds for an average speed of 103.688 mph. That bested the track record set a year ago by Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Wal-Mart/Tide Ford) by .061 seconds.

Dilley Quickest In Canadian Tire Practice At Mosport Road Course

BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – The two morning practice sessions for the Dickies 200 presented by Lucas Oil, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event at Mosport International Raceway are in the books and Mark Dilley (No. 9 Dodge/Leland Dodge) posted the fastest time at 1:25.725 which works out to an average lap speed of 104.987 mph.

The 29-car field had a pair of 30-minute practice sessions to shake out their cars on the 2.459-mile road course situated in the rolling hills of Ontario, east of Toronto.

Tagliani Participates in Charity Walk

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver Alex Tagilani was in Toronto for the 5th Annual Wal-Mart Walk for Miracles on June 8. Gathered along Lakeshore Boulevard, supporters took part in fundraising for children’s hospitals across Canada.

Tagliani, a Quebec native, was there along with his No. 7 Wal-Mart/Ubisoft Ford greeting fans and signing autographs.

Whissell To Make Canadian Tire Series Debut at Mosport

Jarrad Whissell has been road racing for the past three seasons and now he wants to see how he stacks up against Canada’s best stock car racers on the 2.459-mile road course of Mosport International Raceway. The event will be his NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio debut. The Whissell Motorsports team intends to compete at all four road course events on the Canadian Tire Series schedule in 2008.

News & Notes: Strategy More Than Intimidation Is Micks' Style

Some say his style is to intimidate on the track. He says it is a desire to win and nothing more. Either way, Kerry Micks (No. 02 Beyond Digital Imaging Ford) is a hard-nosed racer whose experience tells him to use every tool at his disposal to achieve his goals.

“I don’t go out there with the thought of being an intimidator or anything like that,” said Micks. “I just want to win. It is as simple as that. That’s just me.”

Autrodrome St. Eustache Re-schedule

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio event at Autodrome St. Eustache in Quebec has been re-scheduled to July 5.

Weekend rains in the Montreal area on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 allowed drivers only an abbreviated practice session on Sunday morning. The July 5 event will include the full schedule of events with a practice session and time trials prior to the running of the National Kodak 250.

Rain Washes Out St. Eustache

ST. EUSTACHE, Que.  – The National Kodak 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache has been postponed due to inclement weather for the second straight day. NASCAR and track officials are working on a re-scheduled date for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio event. An announcement will be made once plans are finalized.

Drivers were able to get a practice session in this morning, but an early afternoon rain shower dampened the track once again. Track officials tried for several hours to dry the track to no avail.

Practice: Hathaway Tops Speed Charts

ST. EUSTACHE, Quebec - Jason Hathaway (No. 3 Snap on Tools Dodge) had the fastest lap during NASCAR Canadian Tire Series practice Sunday for the Kodak 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache.

Hathaway's top lap speed of 17.458 (82.484) edged rookie the No. 7 WalMart/Ubisoft Ford of Alex Tagliani (17.472/82.418) and the No. 22 Erb Transport Dodge of Scott Steckly (17.473/82.413).

Steckly won the season opener at Cayuga Motor Speedway last week. The Kodak 250 was originally scheduled for Saturday but was pushed to Sunday by inclement weather.

Rain Postpones Canadian Tire Race

ST. EUSTACHE, Que. – Inclement weather forced the postponement of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio’s Atlantic National Kodak 250 scheduled for Saturday evening at Autodrome St. Eustache.

Rain moved into the area early Saturday causing NASCAR and track officials to re-schedule the event for Sunday afternoon.

Time trials are scheduled at noon, local time, on Sunday and the National Kodak 250 is set for a 3:30 p.m. green flag. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m.

Opener To Air On TSN Friday

TORONTO – Race coverage of the Crown Jewel 200 will premier Friday, May 30 on TSN and TSN HD. The one-hour show featuring race highlights and interviews will begin at midnight ET (9 p.m. PT).

Dave Bradley, Billy Rowse Jr. and Todd Lewis will call the action from the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio 2008 season opener from Cayuga Motor Speedway.

The show will also air on Wednesday, June 18 at 1 p.m. ET and Sunday June 22 at 12:30 a.m. ET.
