QUALIFYING: Purdy Earns Pole At Berlin

Rookie Takes Second Straight Top Spot For K&N Pro East

MARNE, Mich. -- Chase Purdy is getting a hang of this qualifying thing.

The 17-year-old from Meridian, Mississippi, won his second straight 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented Coors Light Saturday. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East posted the fastest time around the .438-mile Berlin Raceway for the evening's Stars & Stripes 150.

Purdy's No. 17 Bama Buggies/Textron Offroad Toyota circled the .438-mile oval in 16.926 seconds for an average of 93.158 mph.

Tyler Dippel was second fastest at 19.963 (92.955), followed by Todd Gilliland at 16.982 (92.851). Gilliland had been fastest in practice.

Championship points leader Harrison Burton was fourth in qualifying, followed by Ronnie Bassett Jr.

Dillon Bassett, Travis Miller, Ruben Garcia Jr., Hunter Baize and Collin Cabre rounded out the top 10.

The Stars & Stripes 150, the series' inaugural visit to the track, is scheduled to take the green at 9 p.m.
