MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The dreams of running in one of NASCAR’s elite series is now a reality for Scott Heckert, a stock car racer out of Ridgefield Connecticut.  Heckert, who at a very young age had a passion for anything car related, discovered that when he sat down in his first go kart, racing was what he wanted to do!  As Heckert stated, “the feeling of speed was simply incredible.”

Heckert will be racing a full schedule in 2013 with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driving for BJ McLeod Motorsports, a new K&N team out of Mooresville, NC.  BJ McLeod Motorsports is owned and operated by BJ McLeod, a NASCAR driver whose passion is racing.  Over the last three years, BJ McLeod has organized a successful Super Late Model team to enable up and coming drivers a solid stepping stone for achieving their dreams in stock car racing.  McLeod has now extended his program by establishing a competitive NASCAR K&N team that will allow up and coming drivers the opportunity to take the next step.

Heckert, who began racing in karts, raced on the regional as well as the national levels with the World Karting Association, then moved on to road course racing with the Skip Barber Race Series, where he accrued seven top 5’s in eight starts as a rookie.  Scott’s first experience with oval track racing was when he attended Finish Line Racing School out of Edgewater, FL.  He knew then his next step needed to be asphalt oval track racing.

Heckert began racing in 2011 with BJ McLeod Motorsports driver development program in Super Late Models across the Southeast.  In 2011 Heckert made his presence known by great qualifying efforts and several top 5 and 10 finishes in the Brighthouse Challenge & Florida United Promoters Series.  In 2012, Heckert showed his ability to adapt to new tracks by securing top 5 and top 10 qualifying efforts and finishes at the World Series of Stock Car Racing, Pro All Star Series, Blizzard Series as well as finishing 4th in his first CRA race at Watermelon Capital Speedway while capturing Rookie of the Year and 5th place in the 2012 Bright House Challenge Series.  McLeod stated, “Heckert has shown impressive abilities in car control and feedback.”

Both driver and team are looking forward to hitting the track for their first race at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 16, 2013.  For more information on the driver and team, please visit  Follow Scott Heckert on Twitter @HeckertRacing and be sure to Like “Scott Heckert Racing” on Facebook.
