MONTREAL, Quebec - Alex Labbe and Go FAS Racing have announced that the young Quebec driver will contend its second NASCAR Pinty’s series Championship as a full-time driver in 2017. In addition, he will be taking part in five starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, starting with a ticket to the Ticket Galaxy 200, this Saturday, November 12th, on the Phoenix International Race-way, in Arizona.
“Alex progressed in 2016 behind the wheel of our Ford Fusion Can-Am, Kappa, Cyclops Gear and we are proud to allow him to follow his dream among our organization. He will wear the suit as a full-time driver in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in 2017,” said Alain Lord Mounir, principal officer for Go FAS Racing, Kappa clothing and Cyclops Gear.
Making His Debut in Xfinity This Weekend
On behalf of its American activities in NASCAR, Go FAS Racing can offer its rising star a chance to continue learning through five Xfinity races, the second most popular NASCAR series behind the Sprint Cup Series. This program will start this weekend as the NASCAR Xfinity Series will race ahead of the Can-Am 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.
“In addition to once again entrust the wheel to the young man in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, we want Alex to keep on making his way up to the top in the world of stock car racing. Therefore we are giving him the opportunity to race against the best drivers of the next generation of NASCAR with at least five starts behind our Ford Can-Am-Kappa-Cyclops Gear in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.”
For Alex Labbe, it’s a priceless occasion to get noticed on the track alongside of Erik Jones, Elliott Sadler, Daniel Suarez and other stars from the second NASCAR Series.
“Since my debut in the world of stock car racing, the drivers from the American NASCAR Series have been my idols,” said the 23-year-old driver. “It’s awesome to know that I will race against them, but it’s even more rewarding to know that Go FAS Racing grant me their trust. I am happy to know that I met their expectations for 2016. I will do everything that is in my power to earn the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Championship title in 2017 and get noticed, positively in the Xfinity Series.”
As well as Can-Am, Kappa and Cyclops Gear, the Larue equipment will take part as partners for Labbe’s first Xfinity start, who have been supporting Alex for a long time in the ACT Series.
At his first full-time NASCAR Pinty’s season with Go FAS Racing in 2016, Alex Labbe has finished sev-enth in the championship standing with a first win at the Autodrome Chaudière, three pole positions in qualifications, six top-5 and eight top-10 in 12 starts.
