THOMPSON, Conn. – Donny Lia won the Coors Light Pole for tonight's Budweiser King of Beers 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and in the process climbed up the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour record books.
Lia, driving the familiar No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge, captured the pole with a fast time of 18.796 seconds (119.706 mph) and moved to ninth all-time with his 20th career pole. Ron Yuhas Jr. followed in his No. 64 Fast Track Electric/Hughes Motors Chevrolet with a fast lap time of 18.818 (119.566 mph) to join Lia on the front row.
Tommy Barrett Jr. was third (18.841/119.420) with tour points leader Doug Coby fourth (18.859/119.306) and Timmy Solomito (18.888/119.123) completing the top five.
Eric Goodale was sixth with Patrick Emerling and Ryan Preece seventh and eighth, respectively.
Justin Bonsignore, who won the spring tour race at Thompson in April, was ninth and former tour champion and last year's winner of this event, Bobby Santos, completed the top 10.
The Budweiser King of Beers 150 will go green at approximately 8:45 p.m.
