QUERÉTARO, Mexico – Rafael Martinez made it 2-for-2 in the NASCAR Mexico Series season as he cruised to the win in the Querétaro 200 presented by Pennzoil at Nuevo Autódromo de Querétaro Sunday.
Martinez, who won the season opener at Aguascalientes March 21, won the pole position Saturday and then led 59 laps Sunday en route to his 14th career victory.
Homero Richards finished second, followed by Antonio Perez. Germain Quiroga and Freddy Tame rounded out the top five.
Martinez gave up the lead on the 2,290-meter oval when he pitted on Lap 40 but took it back from German Quiroga on Lap 60 and led the final 15 laps.
It is the second time Martinez had started the season with back-to-back wins. The other was his championship season of 2007.
Homero Richards and Salvador Duran also led laps.
The next NASCAR Mexico Series race will be at San Luis Potosi on May 2.
