Wins from the pole on Mexico City oval

MEXICO CITY -- Homero Richards dominated the NASCAR Mexico Seris stop at Mexico City, winning the pole position Saturday and leading 87 of 125 laps Sunday en route to the victory at Hermanos Rodriguez.

It was Richards' first win of the season and third of his career. Richards completed the race, which was contested on the facilities oval, in 1 hour, 57 minutes, 28.990 seconds.

Germain Quiroga and points leader Antonio Perez finished second and third, respectively.

Ruben Pardo and Ruben Rovelo completed the top five. Carlos Peralta was sixth, followed by Ricardo Perez de Lara, Rafael Martinez, Hugo Oliveras, and Jorge Arteaga.

Richards led the first 65 laps, and took the lead back on lap 102. In between, Quiroga, Perez and Irwin Vences also led.

Perez now leads Goeters, 623-617. Martinez is third with 602, followed by Quiroga with 594 and Richards with 571.

The NASCAR Mexico Series will next race at Autodromo Miguel E. Adeb in Puebla on Sunday, July 18.
