K&N Pro Series West
K&N Pro Series WestDavid Mayhew had every reason to be upset after the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Colorado National Speedway on Saturday night.
His car didn’t qualify well. He cut a front tire early in the race and had to pit to change it. When he returned to the race, he was a lap down.
But he got his lap back and salvaged a fifth-place finish on what would have been an otherwise disastrous night.
> MoreDACONO, Colo. – NASCAR K&N Pro Series West driver Eric Holmes' dream season continues and now he has 10,000 more reasons to smile.
The two-time series champion drove his No. 20 NAPA Toyota around Luis Martinez Jr. for the lead on Lap 107 and held on during a 10-lap shootout to win the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge 150 Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway.
> MoreDACONO, Colo. – Luis Martinez Jr. was fast in practice earlier today but no one expected what he accomplished in qualifying.
Martinez Jr., the leading candidate for this year’s Sunoco Rookie of the Year title in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, won his first 21 Means 21 Pole Award by Coors Brewing Company with a fast time of 16.561 seconds (81.517 mph) for tonight’s Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge 150 at Colorado National Speedway.
> MoreDACONO, Colo. -- Since the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race Goodyear Dealers of Iowa 200 on May 23, the West Series drivers have had seven races in 12 weeks.
After tonight’s race at Colorado National Speedway, the West Series drivers get a bit of a break. They won’t race again until Sept. 12 at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
But some of the drivers would rather go without a break. Blake Koch said he would rather have 12 races in a row. However, that wouldn’t leave much time to race on other divisions of NASCAR.
> MoreDACONO, Colo. -- Eric Holmes has the lead in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West standings, but he’s had to work to get it. He opened the season with a 20th place finish at All American Speedway in Roseville and didn’t take the lead in the West Series standings until after the fifth race of the season.
It’s a little different this year for Holmes, driver of the No. 20 Toyota for Bill McAnally Racing. In previous years, he has started out hot, notching a couple wins early in the season and establishing a spot atop the West Series standings. > More
