TORONTO – NASCAR hosted its third annual NASCAR Canadian Business Summit and Recognition Reception on Saturday for drivers, teams, sponsors and track operators for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in Canada.
Among the agenda items addressed at the session were updates from NASCAR Canada, social media initiatives and overall NASCAR business with an eye to the future.
Dana Gladstone, associate vice president for sponsorships and community relations for Canadian Tire remarked on the momentum of the Canadian Tire Series.
“We got the season started on a high note with a tremendous season-opening event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and continued to build upon that throughout the whole season.”
The group gathered in the evening for a reception to honor drivers, teams and sponsors from both series.
Special recognition was focused on the newly crowned 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 champion D.J. Kennington, who won his second series title in three years fueled seven victories and 11 top-five finishes throughout the just completed season.
From the grassroots NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Alberta provincial champion Erica Thiering and Ontario provincial champion Dwayne Baker were among those honored.
This special event serves as a launching pad for competitors who will be making their way to Charlotte, N.C., along with other racers from throughout North America, to be recognized on an international stage during the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards on Saturday, Dec. 8 and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards on Friday, Dec. 7. Both ceremonies will be held in the Crown Ballroom of the Charlotte Convention Center within the NASCAR Hall of Fame complex. Additionally, both events will be streamed live throughout Canada and the rest of the world on www.NASCARHomeTracks.com and presented in English, French and Spanish.
