Following the May 19-20 NASCAR GP of Italy at the Autodromo di Franciacorta, the #54 car was taken to NASCAR Whelen Euro Series headquarters for post-event inspection.
The front sway bar and front spindles (right and left) were found to be in violation of the following rule:
10.1 The only suspension and steering components permitted are the suspension and steering components supplied by TEAM FJ and specified in the current technical sheet and its appendixes. Once supplied, they may not be modified in any way except by TEAM FJ.
The penalty is as follows:
- Car #54 is disqualified from the Elite 1 Sunday race
- Loss of Elite 1 Driver Championship points for driver Alon Day
- Loss of Elite 1 Team Championship points for #54 CAAL Racing Team
- The final result of this race cannot be considered as the "joker" race specified in article 8.3 of the NWES sporting regulation.
As a result of the penalty, Lucas Lasserre (#33 Mavi Mishumotors Chevrolet SS) inherits the win, Marc Goossens (#91 Braxx Racing Chevrolet Camaro) the second place and Loris Hezemans (#50 Hendriks Motorsport Ford Mustang) moves to the third place on the podium.
