QUALIFYING: Ernie Francis Debuts With Pole Run at New Jersey

MILLVILLE, N.J. – He may be new to stock car racing, but Ernie Francis Jr. proved why he is a road course ace, earning the pole for the 125 in his series debut.

Francis’ No. 42 Pro Systems Toyota will lead the field to green later this evening after posting a lap time of 1:25.710 (94.505 mph).

The Dania, Florida native is making his first appearance with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series driving for Rev Racing. He is a four-time champion in the Trans-Am Series.

The road course expert is already feeling comfortable behind the wheel of a stock car.

“In the end it’s a car with four wheels and a steering wheel” Francis said. “I can figure it out.”

Another driver that knows his way around a road course in Will Rodgers will start alongside Francis on the front row. Rodgers turned a lap of 1:26.156 (94.016 mph) as he looks to return to victory lane as he did here last year.

Ruben Garcia Jr. posted a lap of 1:26.277 (93.884 mph) and will start third. Garcia comes into the weekend riding the momentum of his first series win at Tennessee’s Memphis International Raceway and looks to carry that into tonight’s race.

Championship points leader Tyler Ankrum and Chase Cabre, who was fastest in practice, fill out the top five.

Grant Quinlan, Tyler Dippel, Ryan Vargas, David Levine and Dillon Bassett complete the top 10.

Green flag is set to drop at 6:00 p.m. ET for the JUSTDRIVE.come 125.
