TORONTO, Ont — Anthony Simone was fastest in practice for the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto at Exhibition Place.
Simone’s No.95 Innovative Plumbing Dodge set a blazing lap time of 1 minute 17.035 seconds (82.015 mph) around the 1.755-mile street course to claim the top spot after the 55-minute session.
The 38-year-old driver from Holland Landing, Ontario fastest time was not quick enough to contend with the track record of 1:16.260 set by Jason Bowles in 2011. Simone still hunts for his first career Pinty’s Series win and has a best finish of eighth place at Exhibition Place in 2017.
Autodrome Chaudiere winner Andrew Ranger logged the second fastest time at 1:17.243 (81.794). Marc-Antoine Camirand logged the third quickest time at 1:17.481 (81.543).
Alex Tagliani and Kevin Lacroix completed the top five with series points leader LP Dumoulin came home sixth.
Kerry Micks, JF Dumoulin, Josten’s Rookie of the Year candidate James Vance and D.J. Kennington rounded out the top 10.
Qualifying for the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto will commence at 4:05 p.m., with the green flag set to drop Saturday at 3:40 p.m.
