Wetaskiwin, Alta — Kevin Lacroix stormed to the E3 Spark Plugs pole award for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series’ LUXXUR 300 presented by Bayer at Edmonton International Raceway.
Lacroix’s No.74 Bumper to Bumper/Total/ Gates Dodge set an incredible lap of 12.709 seconds (70.816 mph) around the .250-mile bullring, to claim his second pole of 2018. Lacroix’s time wasn’t fast enough however, to beat Alex Tagliani’s track record (12.514).
The 29-year-old driver from Saint-Eustache, Quebec scored his first career NASCAR Pinty’s Series pole award at Edmonton back in 2016, and is looking for his second win of the season.
Saskatoon winner Donald Theetge will join Lacroix on the front row after he qualified second. His No.24 Chevrolet Camaro set a time of 12.825 (70.175mph), .116 seconds back of Lacroix.
Mark Dilley will line up third, with a time of 12.889 (69.827mph). This marks Dilley’s first top five start since Riverside in 2017.
LP Dumoulin and Andrew Ranger complete the top five starters.
Despite changing an engine after practice, D.J Kennington will roll off sixth. Alex Tagliani, Noel Dowler, Marc-Antoine Camirand and Adam Martin round out the top 10.
Points leader Cole Powell will start from the 11th spot.
The green flag for the LUXXUR 300 presented by Bayer will drop at 7:30 p.m.
