It’s time to crown a champion in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.
With L.P. Dumoulin just four points up on Alex Tagliani, the series heads back to Canada and Jukasa Motor Speedway for the championship showdown on Saturday night. Dumoulin is seeking his second career title, while Tagliani looks to break into the record books and add a title to his résumé. Two other drivers are also mathematically eligible to battle for the title.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West drivers return to the track for the first time since the dug up the dirt in Las Vegas. The NAPA Auto Parts/Idaho 208 will take place at Meridian Speedway, and with just three races left on the championship points schedule, Ryan Partridge looks to close ground on his teammate Derek Thorn in the standings.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour heads to Stafford Motor Speedway for the annual NAPA Fall Final 150, where Justin Bonsignore seeks to clinch his first championship. The event is the third appearance at the half-mile this season and comes following a grueling inaugural Musket 250 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
NASCAR PINTY’S SERIES AT JUKASA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
One race. Four drivers. One champion.
The second of two stops at Jukasa Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in 2018 has significant meaning on Saturday night. With Dumoulin and Tagliani separated by just four points, the battle to decide the champion will be an all-out fight right down to the wire in the annual Pinty’s Fall Brawl.
In the first 12 races of the season, both drivers have combined to win five of them and each will look to seal the trophy by winning on Saturday. In their careers, neither driver has been to Victory Lane in their career at Jukasa.
In the first stop at the 0.625-mile oval this season, Tagliani finished third and Dumoulin finished seventh, while neither led laps.
Cole Powell, who enters the Pinty’s Fall Brawl trailing by 19 points, led 67 laps and finished second at Jukasa in June. In his first year in the series, Powell has one win and enters the finale with a chance to become champion if the two in front of him stumble, but he will need some help.
D.J. Kennington enters fourth in the standings, 25 points back as the final driver with a shot to call himself champion. Kennington will need to win in order to clinch the trophy, but would also need Dumoulin and Tagliani to finish outside the top-20, which will be a tall task.
Close points races are common in Canada’s national stock car championship series. From 2013-15, the trophy was decided by four points or less each series, including Dumoulin’s 2014 title.

NASCAR group qualifying is in place for this event. Qualifying order will be determined by each vehicle’s fastest single lap from the official practice sessions. The number of qualifying groups will be determined by NASCAR. Each qualifying session will be five minutes in duration and the fastest single lap speed of each vehicle will determine starting positions. Adjustments or repairs may not be made on a vehicle after the vehicle enters the track to begin the qualifying session. Vehicles may not return to the track or make further qualifying laps unless directed to do so by a NASCAR Official. Vehicles will be impounded after qualifying and must qualify on race set up.
The Pinty’s Fall Brawl will be 200 laps (125 miles).
The maximum tire allotment available for this event is as follows: One (1) tire for practice, four (4) tires for qualifying and to begin the race and four (4) additional tires for use during the race for a total of nine (9) tires.
NASCAR K&N PRO SERIES WEST AT MERIDIAN
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
NASCAR K&N Pro Series West drivers are moving from the dirt back to the asphalt this weekend — and it comes at a time where it is getting to crunch time in the championship battle. Two Bob Bruncati Racing drivers — Derek Thorn and Ryan Partridge — lead the point standings as the series heads back to the quarter-mile Meridian Speedway.
Thorn, who has two wins this season and has finished inside the top five in all but one race, has not started an event at Meridian in his career. Partridge, who has one win this season, won the pole at the Idaho oval last season and led 173 laps, but finished 11th, and sits 31 out.
Entering Saturday, no driver on the entry list has been to Victory Lane at Meridian in four previous events. In fact, the best finish of any entered driver for Saturday’s race is fourth — a run that Cole Rouse put together in 2016 when he was driving for Bruncati. Rouse enters the race 35 points back with three races remaining.
Derek Kraus, who is coming off a second-place finish in the K&N Pro Series East race at New Hampshire, returns to competition seeking his third win of the season. In his only effort at Meridian, Kraus finished fifth.
Over the final month, K&N Pro Series West drivers will compete in three races at three distinct different facilities, spanning from a quarter-mile to a half-mile. After Meridian, teams will move to a third-mile at All American Speedway in Roseville, California, then roll to Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California, to crown the champion in late October.

The NAPA Auto Parts/Idaho 208 will be 208 laps (52 miles).
The maximum tire allotment available for this event is as follows: Four (4) tires for practice, four (4) tires for qualifying and to begin the race for a total of eight (8) tires.
NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR AT STAFFORD
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
There are two races remaining on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule, but Justin Bonsignore isn’t about to wait until the finale to clinch the championship. The Holtsville, New York, driver enters Sunday’s NAPA Fall Final 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway with a 74-point advantage in the standings, and in order to clinch in the penultimate race of the season, he needs to leave the track with at least a 48-point lead.
Bonsignore hasn’t been to Victory Lane in 33 prior starts at Stafford — as the Connecticut half-mile is one of few tracks on the circuit he has yet to master. But, this season, everything seems to be going his way. With seven wins in 14 races, and top-10 finishes in all of them, Bonsignore is on his way to a title celebration. The 30-year-old does have top-10 finishes in his last nine starts there.
Bonsingore can clinch his first championship with a finish of 21st or better or a finish by Dowling of sixth or worse.
Chase Dowling rolls into his home track coming off his first career Whelen Modified Tour win in the inaugural Musket 250 at New Hampshire. Dowling, who cut his teeth racing modifieds at the half-mile, still competes in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified division, where he has been to Victory Lane this season. The Roxbury, Connecticut, driver has won both pole awards there in 2018.

Once a vehicle’s qualifying attempt is complete, the vehicle must proceed directly to the designated impound area once it enters pit road. Vehicles will proceed immediately to impound after making their qualifying attempt. Vehicles will be impounded after qualifying/inspection, and must qualify on their race set up. Only minor adjustments will be permitted following qualifying.
The NAPA FALL FINAL 150 will be 150 laps (75 miles).
The maximum tire allotment available for this event is eleven (11) tires per team. Four (4) tires must be used for qualifying and to begin the race. The tire change rule is four (4) tires, any position.
Ruben Garcia Jr. will lead the NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series to Súper Óvalo Chiapas in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Mexico, for the Arris Grand Prix Sunday. Garcia has four top fives and six top 10s along with one pole there and carries an 18-point lead over Irwin Vences heading into the ninth of the 12-race season.

Abraham Calderon is the defending race winner, while Ruben Rovelo (2014-15), Jose Luis Ramirez (2010 and 2013) and Rogelio Lopez (2009 and 2015) have multiple victories at the 1.2 km tri-oval.
Rodrigo Rejon leads a tight battle in the NASCAR FedEx Challenge Series. Rejon’s lead is three over Oscar Peralta, five over Jake Casio and 13 over Oscar Peralta Jr.
