Resounding success for the NWES Drivers Recruitment Days at Franciacorta


The December 13-14 second leg of the 2019 NWES Drivers Recruitment Program at Italy’s Autodromo di Franciacorta featured an international lineup of 28 drivers, ranging from affirmed GT and touring car veterans to young karting talents approaching a race car for the first time in their career.

All the participants had the opportunity to complete several runs at the wheel of a Euro NASCAR car and meet the NWES organization, competing to receive support for their debut season in NASCAR. They also had the opportunity to exchange informations with three race winners from 2018 – Lucas Lasserre, Loris Hezemans and Gianmarco Ercoli – and 1997 Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.

The Canadian announced his full-time participation to the 2019 NWES season on Sunday.

All reactions to the Recruitment Days were simply enthusiastic, confirming the unique specifications of the NWES car to fit to every kind of driver, from absolute beginners to world-class top drivers.

"It was the first time for me in a car like this. I drove almost every GT car you can imagine but this is really different. It’s raw, it’s fast, it’s slippery, it’s everything you love as a racecar driver," GT veteran Sebastiaan Bleekemolen said.

"It’s totally different from what I was used to and it’s so fun! It’s so easy to approach and the noise is fantastic," said Porsche Cup driver Gregor Burkard, to which his brother Ricardo added "You need to work a lot and it makes it really fun to drive. It’s just great."

Alongside the above mentioned, the list of drivers who took the wheel at Franciacorta included: Former F1 driver Michael Bleekemolen, Emile Van Vesting, Giorgio Maggi, Alex Fontana, Niccolò Schirò, Naveh Talor, Alessandro Perico, Warren Knipper, Riccardo Piergentili, Santtu Vuoksenturja, Thomas Krasonis, Andre Castro, Steven Dewulf, Alina Loibnegger, Michaela Dorcikova, Felipe Espinosa, Mattia Vita, Nives Armetti and Silvia Simoni.

Formula 2 & 3 team owner and former Formula 1 driver Adrian Campos, with co-owner Salvatore Gandolfo, also visited the Autodromo di Franciacorta in occasion of the December 13-14 Recruitment Days.

Four karting drivers also earned the opportunity to drive a Euro NASCAR by participating in the Italian NasKart Series supported by NWES: championship winner Moreno Di Silvestro, Alessio Bacci, Christian Castelli and Alessandro Brigatti. With the NasKart title, Di Silvestro won a full season seat in the ELITE 2 Division in 2019 on a Racers Motorsport car.

As the NWES organization continues to strive for the best mix in terms of driving pleasure and parity among the competitors, a development car also completed two full days of flawless testing, bringing to the track the new General Tire tyres that will equip the Euro NASCAR grid in 2019 alongside a a set of suspension updates and a new spoiler.

The final technical and sporting packages for the 2019 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will be unveiled soon.

Grand succès des deux journées italiennes du programme de recrutement des pilotes


Les 13 et 14 décembre se déroulait la seconde session du Drivers Recruitment Program en vue de la saison 2019 et c’est sur le tracé italien de Franciacorta, qui accueillera la deuxième manche de la saison, que vingt-huit pilotes issus d’horizons divers du sport automobile ont été conviés à découvrir les voitures de l’Euro NASCAR.

Tous les participants ont eu l’occasion d’effectuer plusieurs tours au volant d’une Euro NASCAR et de rencontrer les organisateurs de la série. Tous ont eu à coeur de démontrer leurs talents pour obtenir une aide financière en vue de la saison 2019. Lucas Lasserre, Loris Hezemans et Gianmarco Ercoli, tous trois vainqueurs de courses en 2018, étaient présents lors de ces deux journées d’essais, tout comme Jacques Villeneuve, champion du Monde de Formule 1 en 1997.

C’est à l’issue de ces essais que Jacques Villeneuve a annoncé son engagement à temps plein en NASCAR Whelen Euro Series la saison prochaine.

Tous les pilotes présents lors de ces deux journées ont apprécié les caractéristiques uniques des voitures engagées en NASCAR Whelen Euro Series qui conviennent tant aux débutants qu’aux pilotes les plus expérimentés.

"C’était la première fois pour moi dans une voiture de ce genre. J’ai piloté quasiment tous les types de voitures en GT, mais celle-ci est vraiment différente. Elle est brute, rapide, c’est tout ce que vous aimez en tant que pilote de course," avoue Sebastiaan Bleekemolen.

"C’est différent de ce que vous avez l’habitude de piloter et c’est énormément de plaisir. C’est facile d’accès et le bruit est fantastique," affirme Gregor Burkard, pilote Porsche Cup et son frère Ricardo d’ajouter "Vous devez beaucoup travailler et cela rend la voiture très agréable à piloter. C’est simplement génial."

Outre les pilotes précédemment mentionnés, étaient également présents à Franciacorta l’ancien pilote de F1 Michael Bleekmolen, Emile Van Vesting, Giorgio Maggi, Alex Fontana, Niccolò Schirò, Naveh Talor, Alessandro Perico, Warren Knipper, Riccardo Piergentili, Santtu Vuoksenturja, Thomas Krasonis, Andre Castro, Steven Dewulf, Alina Loibnegger, Michaela Dorcikova, Felipe Espinosa, Mattia Vita, Nives Armetti et Silvia Simoni.

Propriétaire en Formule 2 et Formule 3, mais également ancien pilote de Formule 1, Adrian Campos accompagné du co-propriétaire de son team, Salvatore Gandolfo, étaient également présents sur l’Autodromo di Franciacorta.

En récompense de leur participation en Italian NasKart series, un programme soutenu par le championnat européen de NASCAR, quatre jeunes pilotes de karting étaient également présents en Italie afin de piloter une Euro NASCAR. Champion NasKart 2018, Moreno Di Silvestro remporte une saison complète en division ÉLITE 2 au sein de l’écurie Racers Motorsport. Alessio Bacci, Christian Castelli et Alessandro Brigatti étaient également présents sur le petit tracé italien.

Outre le recrutement de nouveaux pilotes, ces deux journées de tests étaient également l’occasion de valider les nouvelles solutions techniques envisagées dès la saison 2019, telles que les pneumatiques du nouveau partenaire General Tire, de nouvelles suspensions et un nouveau spoiler.

L’ensemble des évolutions techniques 2019 seront dévoilées très prochainement.

Un grande successo per i Recruitment Days della NWES a Franciacorta


La seconda tappa del Drivers Recruitment Program 2019 della NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, tenutasi il 13-14 dicembre all’Autodromo di Franciacorta, ha accolto una line-up internazionale di 28 piloti, che spaziava da affermati veterani delle gare GT e turismo a giovani talenti del kart al primo approccio con una macchina da corsa.

Tutti i partecipanti hanno avuto l’opportunità di completare diversi run al volante di una Euro NASCAR e incontrare l’organizzazione della NWES, con l’obiettivo di ricevere supporto per la loro stagione di debutto in NASCAR in Europa. Hanno inoltre avuto l’occasione di colloquiare con tre piloti che hanno vinto almeno una gara nel 2018 – Lucas Lasserre, Loris Hezemans e Gianmarco Ercoli – e con il campione del mondo di Formula 1 del 1997 Jacques Villeneuve.

Il canadese ha annunciato domenica scorsa che correrà full-time nella NWES nel 2019.

Tutte le reazioni ai Recruitment Days sono state semplicemente entusiastiche, a conferma delle caratteristiche uniche della vettura NWES, che le consentono di adattarsi a qualsiasi tipo di pilota, dai dilettanti ai campioni di fama mondiale.

"E’ stata la prima volta per me su una vettura del genere. Ho guidato quasi tutte GT che potete immaginare, ma quest’auto è decisamente diversa. E’ diretta, è veloce, è scivolosa, è tutto quello che ogni pilota ama," ha detto il veterano delle corse GT Sebastiaan Bleekemolen.

"E’ completamente diversa da quello a cui ero abituato ed è divertentissima! E’ molto facile da approcciare e il rumore è fantastico," ha detto il pilota della Porsche Cup Gregor Burkard, al quale si è aggiunto il fratello Ricardo. "Devi lavorare parecchio ed è quello che la rende così divertente. E’ fantastica."

Insieme ai sopra menzionati, la lista dei piloti che hanno guidata una Euro NASCAR a Franciacorta ha incluso: l’ex pilota di Formula 1 Michael Bleekemolen, Emile Van Vesting, Giorgio Maggi, Alex Fontana, Niccolò Schirò, Naveh Talor, Alessandro Perico, Warren Knipper, Riccardo Piergentili, Santtu Vuoksenturja, Thomas Krasonis, Andre Castro, Steven Dewulf, Alina Loibnegger, Michaela Dorcikova, Felipe Espinosa, Mattia Vita, Nives Armetti e Silvia Simoni.

Anche il team owner di Formula 2 e 3, nonché ex pilota di Formula 1 Adrian Campos, con il co-owner Salvatore Gandolfo, ha visitato l’Autodromo di Franciacorta in occasione dei Recruitment Days del 13-14 dicembre.

Quattro kartisti si sono guadagnati l’opportunità di testare una Euro NASCAR partecipando alla serie italiana NasKart, supportata dalla NWES: il vincitore del campionato Moreno Di Silvestro, Alessio Bacci, Christian Castelli e Alessandro Brigatti. Con il titolo NasKart, Di Silvestro si aggiudicato un sedile per l’intera stagione 2019 della divisione ELITE 2 su una vettura del team Racers Motorsport.

Con l’organizzazione della NWES sempre in cerca del migliore mix tra piacere di guida e parità di condizioni tra i partecipanti al campionato, una vettura di sviluppo ha completato a Franciacorta due giorni completi di test senza alcun problema, portando in pista i nuovi pneumatici General Tire che equipaggeranno tutta la griglia della Euro NASCAR nel 2019, insieme a un set di aggiornamenti delle sospensioni e un nuovo spoiler.

Il pacchetto tecnico e quello sportivo per la stagione 2019 della NASCAR Whelen Euro Series saranno svelati molto presto.
