PRACTICE: Hailie Deegan Quickest in 90-Minute Session at New Smyrna

NEW SMYRNA, Fla. — Hailie Deegan is kicking off her 2019 campaign in style.

The Temecula, California native was quickest (18.316 seconds) in the 90-minute practice session ahead of Sunday’s New Smyrna 175 at New Smyrna Speedway. The quick circuit came on her 43rd of 44 laps in her No. 19 Monster/NAPA Power Premium Plus Toyota for Bill McAnally Racing.

In her only prior start at New Smyrna, Deegan finished 29th last season after retiring early due to electrical issues.

Deegan scored her first career series victory in 2018 at Meridian Speedway, ultimately finishing fifth in the K&N Pro Series West standings en route to the Sunoco Rookie of the Year. She scored five top five finishes and 12 top 10’s in 14 races last season.


Drew Dollar, (18.357), Brandon McReynolds (18.366), Sam Mayer (18.368) and Colin Garrett (18.470) rounded out the top five speeds with Chase Cabre, Anthony Sergi, Tanner Gray, Ty Gibbs and Ruben Garcia Jr. completing the top 10.

RACE CENTER: New Smyrna 175

The green flag for the New Smyrna 175 is scheduled to fly at 7:40 p.m. The race will be live streamed on beginning at 7:30 p.m. Todd Gilliland is the defending winner of the event.
