Gearing Up: Pinty’s Series Ready To Get Back On Track

With the NASCAR Pinty’s Series offseason in full swing, many teams and driver have started to announce their plans for the upcoming 2019 season start May 19 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

New Year, New Tire

The biggest news of the off season so far came in the announcement that General Tire will replace Goodyear as the official tire supplier of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.

“The demand for NASCAR racing globally has never been stronger,” said Brandon Thompson, managing director of NASCAR touring series. “General Tire’s investment across the NASCAR regional and international series will authentically drive brand awareness of not only the respective series but that of the drivers, teams and tracks. Our unique racing style will be highlighted and that’s exciting.”

General Tire will also serve as the tire supplier for the PEAK Mexico Series, K&N Pro Series and the ARCA Menard’s Series.

Julia Landauer announced her participation in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series moving from CBRT to DJK Racing. Landauer who started in three events last year, will up her total to five. Landauer is confirmed to race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 19, Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 1, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Aug. 25, New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sept. 21, and again at Jukasa on Sept. 28.

Marc-Antoine Camirand announced his return with a renewed sponsorship deal with GM Paillé. Camriand scored his first career victory last season at St-Eustache and finished sixth in points.

“I’m so happy to carry this winning association with GM Paillé. In motorsports, nothing is more valuable than a sponsor who shares our passion and who cheers on us always to go further. GM Paillé’s team is passionate and professional, and it’s an honor for me to wear its colors,” said Camirand.

Dion-Viens Inks Three-Year Deal with Castrol Canada

Simon Dion-Viens announced a three-year deal with Castrol Canada to be the primary sponsor on Dion-Viens’ No.37 car for a maximum of four races.

“I have worked with Castrol Canada since I started my racing career, over 15 years ago. It’s always been a pleasure for me to collaborate with them. Over the years, we created an excellent relationship, and a winning partnership focused on the Quebec market. They’re as passionate as I am about racing and I am very proud that I can count on their support”said Dion-Viens.

While their 2019 calendar has not been officially announced, last season Dion- Viens raced at Chaudiere, GP3R, the Fall CTMP race and St. Eustache.

CBRT/ Wight Motorsports Announces First Driver

2018 Pinty’s Series Rookie of the Year Brett Taylor announced via social media of his participation in the 2019 Pinty’s Series season for CBRT and Wight Motorsports.

Taylor started 12 of the 13 events last year with a season and career best finish of eighth at the spring race at Jukasa, en-route to becoming the first Alberta-based driver to win Rookie of the Year honours.

Fecteau Returns with New Sponsor

Jocelyn Fecteau unveiled his new ride for the 2019 season on Facebook with brand new sponsor Roxor. The amount of races he will run this season have not been announced. Last season the 45-year-old Montreal, Quebec driver competed in three events including both CTMP events and the street course at GP3R.

Fresh off his return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Donald Theetge will announce his 2019 plans at a press conference which will happen during the first few weeks of March. The 52-year-old driver scored his first Series victory last season at Saskatoon, in addition to scoring  six top fives.

Motorama Expo Kicks off this Weekend

The 2019 edition of the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo kicks off Friday, March 8, at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. In it’s fifth year of operation, Motorama serves as Canada’s largest motorsport and custom car expo. Running until this Sunday March 10, the NASCAR Pinty’s Series and its teams will have a strong presence with several driver and team announcements set to come.
