WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore posted the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday.
Bonsignore drove the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. Chevrolet to the top spot ahead of the Jersey Shore 150 at Wall Stadium Speedway — the fifth race of the season.
Bonsignore’s fast lap of 12.287 seconds (96.688 mph) earned him his 12th career pole and second of the season. Much like many of the other competitors, it will be Bonsignore’s first Whelen Modified Tour start at the third-mile. The last visit for the series was in 2007 — a race won by home town favorite Jimmy Blewett.
