THOMPSON, Conn. — The quest for six wins in a row at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is on for Justin Bonsignore.
The Holtsville, New York, driver topped the practice charts on Wednesday ahead of the Thompson 125. After winning the Icebreaker in April, Bonsignore became the first driver in the history of the Whelen Modified Tour to win five in a row at the historic .625-mile oval.
His top speed in practice was a time of 18.840 seconds (119.427 mph) behind the wheel of the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. Chevrolet.

Doug Coby, who led the most laps at the Icebreaker, but finished fifth following a pit road penalty, was second in practice. Coby’s quick time was 18.862 seconds (119.287 mph) around the high-banked oval.
Burt Myers, who is filling in for the injured Dave Sapienza, was third in the No. 36 Sapienza Racing Chevrolet. Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Ryan Preece was fourth, while Ron Silk rounded out the top five.
Calvin Carroll was sixth, followed by Patrick Emerling, Jon McKennedy, Craig Lutz and Chris Pasteryak.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday evening for group qualifying ahead of the seventh race of the season. The Thompson 125 will begin at approximately 7 p.m., and will air via a live stream on FansChoice.TV.
