QUALIFYING: Doug Coby Wins Second Straight Mayhew Tools Dominator Pole

THOMPSON, Conn. — Doug Coby will lead the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour field to the green flag at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Wednesday.

The Milford, Connecticut, driver captured his second straight Mayhew Tools Dominator Pole Award and third of the season. The pole was also his 26th career in Whelen Modified Tour competition and 10th career at Thompson.

Coby posted a fast time of 18.742 seconds (120.051 mph) around the .625-mile track. He has five career wins at the Connecticut oval entering the Thompson 125.

Justin Bonsignore, who will look for his sixth Whelen Modified Tour win in a row at Thompson, qualified second. Burt Myers qualified third, followed by Matt Swanson and Chris Pasteryak.

Craig Lutz was sixth, followed by Rob Summers, Ron Silk, Andrew Krause and Sam Rameau.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track at 7 p.m. for the seventh race of the season. The Thompson 125 will air via a live stream on FansChoice.TV.
