QUALIFYING: Derek Kraus Earns First Pole Of 2019 In Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. — He was fastest in practice and he backed up his speed with a blazing quick circuit in group qualifying.

Defending Douglas County winner and championship points leader Derek Kraus’ 14.999-second lap earned him his first pole of the 2019 season for Bill McAnally Racing, the sixth in his K&N Pro Series West career and the eighth in his overall K&N career.

“I think the biggest thing for the race is just going to be saving our tires for the end,” Kraus said. “I feel like there might be a few cautions at the end. Weโ€™ll have to save our stuff, be there at the end and hopefully lead a bunch of laps like we did last year.”

Kraus’ BMR teammate Hailie Deegan (15.025) qualified second with Jagger Jones (15.142) third, Trevor Huddleston (15.161) fourth and Kody Vanderwal (15.218) rounding out the top five.

Brittney Zamora, Travis Milburn, Todd Souza, Matt Levin and Takuma Koga completed the top 10.
