Ty Majeski Making NASCAR K&N Pro West Debut at ISM for Chad Bryant Racing

Three-time ARCA Menards Series winner Ty Majeski will be making two debuts this weekend in the desert.

On Friday, he’ll pilot the No. 44 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series for the first time. The next day, he’ll hop behind the wheel of the No. 2 Chad Bryant Racing Ford and make his K&N Pro Series West debut.

"The Truck deal came together maybe a week and a half ago or so," Majeski told NASCAR.com. "We’ve been planning to go to Phoenix on the K&N side for awhile now. It just so worked out that I’ll be doing double duty this weekend, my first NASCAR double duty weekend. Excited about that."

Majeski, a Seymour, Wisconsin native, will have two other Wisconsin natives in the field with him. One is already a 2019 champion, and when the green flag flies, another will add his name to the list.

Sam Mayer of Franklin, Wisconsin wrapped up his K&N East title at Dover a few weeks ago and Derek Kraus of Stratford, Wisconsin will clinch the K&N West championship once the race begins.

"It’s really neat," he said. "You think of names like Alan Kulwicki, Dick Trickle, Matt Kenseth, Johnny Sauter just to name a few out of the strong talent that’s come out of Wisconsin in the last 30-40 years or so. It’s remarkable. There’s a lot of talent up there. Sometimes the midwest is forgotten about as a honey bowl of racing. There’s the highest weekly racing car counts up there in the entire nation. Sometimes that’s forgotten."

Majeski has a special relationship with Kraus, who he’s been helping get started in racing at local go-kart tracks in Wisconsin since he was seven years old.

"He’s always kind of follows my footsteps," Majeski joked. "He went through go karts, we were teammates in late models and he went his own way in K&N and I went my own way, but there’s a lot of history there and it’ll be cool to kind of share a stage together."

Majeski isn’t making the trip to ISM just for seat time, though. He’s going with one thing in mind: getting the checkered flag. With competitive equipment from CBR and one previous start at the desert mile in the Xfinity Series, their goal is simple.

"Our goal going out there is to be in Victory Lane," he said. "We wouldn’t be going if we didn’t think we had a chance. (Chad Bryant Racing) puts a great product out on the race track. Phoenix is a place I’ve been to before, enjoyed racing there last year in the Xfinity Series. Hopefully we can put them in Victory Lane."

Being the first time since 2015 that the series has visited the one-mile Arizona oval, experience in the field is limited. That puts Majeski on somewhat of an even playing field with the drivers who’ve had 13 races under their belt throughout the 2019 season.

Throw in his three ARCA Menards Series victories at Charlotte, Pocono and Chicago along with finishing inside the top five in each of his limited starts this season, and you have a confidence level rising.

"I’ve had a really good season on the ARCA side of things with Chad, only having six starts and coming home with three wins and having strong runs on top of those three wins," he said. "It’s been a great season and I have a lot of confidence in the cars they prepare and decisions they make. I believe they have a lot of confidence in me as well."

The race is also a preview of 2020, when the ARCA Menards Series will visit ISM Raceway twice. The ARCA Menards Series will run at the Avondale, Arizona, track for the first time on Friday, March 6, as the opening event in the 10-race ARCA Showdown Series. And the ARCA Menards Series West will conclude its season in Phoenix during the fall championship weekend.

The Arizona Lottery 100 is scheduled to go green on Saturday, November 9 at 4:15 p.m. MDT. FansChoice.TV will have live coverage of the event.
