Derek Griffith Wins on Night Five at New Smyrna

NEW SMYRNA, Fla. — He stole the show and almost the win last night in his ARCA Menards Series East debut on Monday night.

24 hours later, he got his revenge and bested Ty Majeski, who was competing in his first event of the week, on a late-race restart to win his first super late model event of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing to cap off night five.

The race-deciding restart came with five laps to go, the final restart in what was a flurry, as the yellow flag flew repeatedly. Majeski, Brad May and Griffith all traded the top spot multiple times, but it was the Hudson, New Hampshire native that emerged victorious.

Majeski, Stephen Nasse, Jesse Love and Gus Dean (first event of the week) rounded out the top five. Justin Mondiek, May, Jett Noland, Sammy Smith and Austin MacDonald completed the top 10.

Jamie Skinner won the 35-lap pro late model event, Tim Moore won the 75-lap Florida modified event and Craig Lutz was victorious for his first ever win of the World Series in the 35-lap tour-type modified event.
