Pinty’s Series Notables to Race Daytona Speed-weeks

While the Daytona 500 is one of the most anticipated events of the NASCAR season, the other races during the speed-week offer even more action for fans and drivers. Many NASCAR Pinty’s Series regulars have put their best foot forward in an attempt to win during this week.

D.J. Kennington has competed in the 500 twice, with a best finish of 24th in 2018. Alex Labbe competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener in 2018 finishing 24th as well.

This season, however, you can find a few different names on the entry lists for these events.

Jason White

White, a Pinty’s Series regular, is set to make his first start at Daytona in the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series. In 2019, the Suns Peak, B.C. native attempted to qualify for the race but fell short. This year, White will race with Josh Reaume Racing in the No. 33 Chevrolet.

White had a good finish at Daytona last Saturday in the ARCA Menards Series, qualifying fourth and finishing sixth.

Raphael Lessard

Another notable NASCAR Pinty’s Series figure taking on the NGOTS this Friday will be Quebec’s own Lessard. The 18-year-old announced in November that he would be racing full-time in 2020 with Kyle Busch Motorsports in the No. 4 Truck. Daytona will mark Lessard’s sixth start in the series and first at Daytona.

Stewart Friesen

While he hasn’t officially made his Pinty’s Series debut, fellow Canadian Friesen is back racing full-time in the truck series. Friesen has been racing in the Truck Series since 2016 and is entering his third full-time season. The 36-year-old will be in the No. 52 with Halmar Friesen Racing.

Friesen, a veteran dirt racer, has teamed up with 22 Racing for the Pinty’s Series’ first-ever dirt race at Ohsweken Speedway on Aug. 18, 2020.

Alex Labbe

The only Canadian competing in NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend is St. Albert, Que. own, Alex Labbe. He is back racing with DGM Racing in the No. 36 Chevrolet for his third race at Daytona.

The 2017 Pinty’s Series champion is hoping to take another crack at a full-time schedule in the Xfinity Series.

Canadians can catch all the NGOTS action on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 P.M. EST on Fox Sports Racing and the Xfinity Series race on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2:30 P.M. EST on TSN. The main event, the Daytona 500 can be found on TSN on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2:30 P.M. EST.
